I think that perhaps we may be able to use mutiple terms as synonyms for the same thing.

Here are a few that will probably work:

Bathroom:
Washroom
Night Chamber
Honey House
The "Chamber"

Toilet:
Throne
Sh'tare
Honey Hole
Magic Hole
Yurgen
The "Hole"

Upstairs Toilet:
Chamber Pot
Honey Pot
The "Pot"
Turd Stein

Fecal Matter:
Night Soil
Turd
Scat
Hudoo
Doot

Hi,

For toilets if you are looking for something a little less cliche, perhaps for the word toiler you could use cultus, ornatus, or to be a little more self explanitory, latrina. Just an idea.

Love,

LOB

P.S. The perfect smiley!

Yes, this is one of only two places where I've found an appropriate use for the horse.gif

Cultus (elegant) or ornatus (decorated)... We already got some with the basic gist of that idea in Throne...

Hi,

I hope you feel a lot better when you are reading this but actually both those words mean Toilet. But, of course the english scholars have given latin words multiple meanings.

Love,

LOB

Thanks, LoB, I do feel better now.

I think I know the reason they did give multiple meanings to the words...

There's a place in Cicero's writings where he describes Verres with the word cultus and some otheer adjectives. It would be translated as describing Verres as rich, mannerly and elegant. Or if cultus means toilet there, then as rich, mannerly and toilet.

And there's another place where the very same Verres stole some cups, ornati auri poculi. These would cups of decorated gold or cups of toilet gold, depending on the translationg of ornatus as toilet or decorated.

Where did you learn that those words meant toilet, out of curiosity? I've taken over two years of college Latin and never come across that definition. I would be interested to expand my knowledge... can you give me a link?
